5 TIPS FOR GLOWING SKIN THIS JANUARY

Following the Christmas season our skin tends to need that little extra TLC as we generally burn the candle at both ends during the festive and New Year period – and it really doesn’t take that long to see the effects of it. With January knocking at our doors, it’s time to check in with our skin and assess what it needs after days of over-indulging in food, alcohol and sweet treats. The likelihood is that our partied-out skin is showing signs of breakouts, dry patches and a dull complexion. If so, here’s how to bring your skin back to life this January.

  1. Drink plenty of water

This seems like a no-brainer because we know how good water is for us, but a large percentage of the adult UK population suffers with dehydration through not drinking enough. Alcohol dries the skin significantly, so we want to (re)hydrate and plump up those skin cells. Water is one of the best skincare remedies! If you aren’t a fan, add a slice of lemon or try coconut water which contains natural electrolytes.

  1. Cleanse your skin properly

We create makeup, so we get it – you want to slay all day (and allll night), but it is SO important to remove your makeup before bed to avoid blocking your pores with the days pollutants and toxins, as that leads to more breakouts and skin sensitivity. Create yourself a core routine and if it helps, leave your skincare routine on your bedside table.– no excuses!

  • Eat skin-boosting foods

The refined sugars and processed treats have an aging effect on the skin that damages collagen fibres and contributes to sagging and wrinkles. This needs to be counteracted with nuts, berries, leafy greens and good fats to help provide glowing skin as well as a healthier gut. Speaking of gut, while a long walk in the fresh air is good exercise, it will also improve circulation and ensure that the vital nutrients get to where they need to be.

  • Stop smoking

January is always a good time to give up bad habits. It’s not something you need to be told, but we’ll say it anyway – as well as causing many health issues – smoking will super enhance the ageing process and significantly dry out skin cells, making your skin suffers every single time you smoke. We encourage healthy living and if you’re able to get the aids and support, your skin will thank you a MILLION times over.

  • Add a little coverage!

The effects of a good diet and substantial water intake may take some time to show up in the skin but is the best way forward. For immediate complexion perfection however, we suggest trying the award-winning ColorBlend HD Foundation for an instant collagen skin boost. The skin-like finish, radiance and glow are unreal, and we won’t tell anyone if you don’t…. *coughs* “I woke up like this.”
